Counselling for Stress

What is Stress?

Stress is how we react to anything the requires our full attention. It occurs from any type of change that causes physical, mental, emotional or psychological tension.

Stress is not necessarily a bad thing as it can be used as motivation and to avoid threats. It can help you meet an important deadline or avoid being late for an event. However, stress that is constant, severe or detrimental can have a negative affect on us.

The Negative Consequences of Stress

Physical Impacts: An increase of adrenaline and cortisol due to stress can cause headaches, fatigue, insomnia, damaged blood vessels, high blood pressure, weight gain, memory loss and other physical issues.

Psychological Impacts: The psychological stain from stress can cause anxiety, depression, mood swings,  frustration, irritability, agitation, a lack of concentration, procrastination, and other psychological issues.

Managing Stress Through Counselling

At Creative Devotional our counsellors can offer stress management through our counselling services. This is done through identifying what is causing you stress (triggers), managing and coping with negative stressors, understanding how stress is impacting your life and developing techniques that can reduce your stress.
